PUBLIC NOTICE TO THE CITIZENS OF OAKLAND 9/10/2026

Municipal Waste Hub and Spoke Project

The Town of Oakland would like to provide an update regarding the proposed Municipal Waste Hub and Spoke Project.

At this time, the project will not be ready to be presented to voters on the November election ballot.

The Town believes it is important to take the additional time necessary to complete our due diligence and ensure that residents have the information they need to fully understand the proposal before being asked to make a decision.

Over the coming months, the Town will focus on:

*Conducting additional due diligence on the proposed project.

*Providing education and outreach to Oakland citizens so residents have an opportunity to learn more about the proposal and ask questions.

*Gathering and addressing community concerns and ensuring that information is shared openly and transparently.

*Focusing on road, traffic, and transportation impacts, including how the project may affect traffic flow, roadway safety, access, and surrounding neighborhoods.

*Working with the appropriate agencies and project representatives to better understand and address transportation and infrastructure needs.

The Town understands that this project is an important issue for Oakland and its residents. We believe that a decision of this significance deserves a thorough review and a well-informed public discussion.

There is no need to rush the process. Our goal is to make sure that when the project is ultimately presented to the voters, residents have had a meaningful opportunity to understand the proposal, review the facts, ask questions, know the benefits to the town and make an informed decision.

The Town will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available and will announce opportunities for public education, outreach, and community discussion.

Thank you for your continued interest, questions, and participation in the future of the Town of Oakland.

Kelly Pinney-Michaud

Town Manager
